About Us

Promethea Native Plant Nursery is owned and operated by our family of three out of our backyard in Roanoke, Virginia. Tatum is the horticulturist (and webmaster), Chad is the builder, and Ada is an expert at potting and watering plants. Their two dogs, Fawkes and Piper, also help out by scaring deer out of the yard.

We’re excited to share our love of native plants and backyard conservation with the Roanoke Valley!

We want to be the nursery we wish we had when we started our journey to convert our yard to a native plant garden. Our ultimate goal is to grow all our plants from seed collected from wild plants growing in our ecoregion. However, since we are just starting out and have limited resources, many of our plants are grown from purchased seed, cuttings, or are bought from wholesale nurseries.
